Stephen Stev Andre Wiant , April 12, 1997 — November 24, 2018

Stephen “Steve” Andrew Wiant, 62, of Weston passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Ruby Memorial Hospital following a one week illness. He was born in Weston on April 16, 1956 a son of the late Albert Roy Wiant Jr. and Hattie Elizabeth Metz Wiant. On April 12, 1997 he married Charlene Allen.

Together they shared 21 wonderful years of marriage together and she will greatly miss her partner and best friend. Steve is survived by his wife; one stepson, Alva Burl Allen and wife, Melanie, of Weston; one stepdaughter, Opal Marie Jones of Jacksons Mill; two granddaughters: Zoie Parmer and Izzabelle “Sunshine” Allen both of Weston; two brothers: Richard Lee Wiant and wife, Glenna, of White Sulphur Springs, and Robert Paul Wiant and wife, Kathy, of Strange Creek; two sisters: Carol Sue Carpenter and husband, Tom, of Turnertown, and Beverly Ann Conrad and husband, Jerry, of Weston; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and sisters/brothers-in-law; and three feline companions: Thumbsy, Eli and Champ. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald Wayne Wiant and James Roy Wiant; three brothers-in-law; and several aunts and uncles.

Steve worked for several years as a Carpenter. He built the house where he lived with Charlene and assisted in putting up the drywall at the Timothy Center. On a whim, Steve decided to become a mechanic.

He was very talented in the profession and worked for the last few years with Union Drilling and Weatherford. Steve and his wife attended Hope Point Church in Weston. He also attended the Weston-Buckhannon AA Group and was very involved with his recovery.

Steve’s passion for his own recovery was inspirational to others in need. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed walking in the beautiful scenery of “Almost Heaven” West Virginia. Above all he treasured the time spent with family and playing with his granddaughters.

Family and friends will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Vaughn officiating.
