Gary Eugene Layne, 54, of Glenville went Home to be with the Lord at 7:25 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the comfort of his own home. He was born in Weston on April 2, 1964 to Sharon Yvonne Layne Riffle. Sharon and Gary’s stepfather, Elzie James Riffle, both reside in Glenville.

In addition to his mother and step father, Gary is survived by one aunt, Terry H. Fox of South Carolina; one uncle, Gary R. Layne of Normantown; step daughters; step grandchildren; several cousins, great uncles and aunts, extended family, co-workers; and many special friends. Gary was preceded in death by his “Grangy”, Joan Y. Layne; his Poppy, Eugene K. Layne; two uncles: Martin Layne and Robert Fox; and his feline friend, Lady Snoopy Girl, whose ashes will be combine with his per his request. Gary graduated from Gilmer County High School in 1982.

He was baptized within the Baptist Church and remained Baptist by faith. Gary had worked in the oil fields, but ultimately spent 23 years operating heavy equipment for Flying W. Plastic. The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Lewis-Upshur Animal Shelter at 318 Mud Lick Rd.

in Buckhannon, WV 26201 or to your Local Shelter. Gary’s request for cremation has been honored and family and friends will gather at Ellyson Mortuary from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brian Groves officiating.

Following the services a dinner will be held at the Gilmer County Parks and Recreation Facility sponsored by Darrel Ramsey. The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew is honored and privileged to serve the family of Gary Eugene Layne.
