William “Bill” D. Woodson, 85, formerly of Jane Lew, passed away peacefully in Florida on October 29, 2018. He was a beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. Bill was born in Linn, WV, on November 11, 1932 a son of the late Walter C. and Agnes Neal Woodson.

On August 30, 1958 he married the love of his life, Emma Jean Reed. Together they shared over 56 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on February 4, 2015. Bill is survived by one daughter, Tammy Hicks and son-in-law, David Hicks, of FL; four grandsons: Cliff Jenkins and wife, Stephanie, of TX, Scott Jenkins and wife, Stacey, of NC, Jeremy Hicks and wife, Melissa, of FL, and William Hicks and wife, Donna, of IL; 14 great grandchildren; beloved Pug, George; three sisters: Clarice “Tiny” Curry of MD, Nina Churchwell of TN, and Carolyn “Sissy” Holland of DE; one brother, Robert “Terry” Woodson of TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Jenkins; one sister, Wanda Hawkins; and four brothers: Harley “John”, Walter C. Jr. “Sam”, Raymond “Jake” and Joseph “Joe” Woodson. Bill was a member of the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #166 and the VFW Post #5131.

He served in United States Army during the Korean War, worked many years in the oil & gas industry and retired from Alleghany Tank Services. Bill enjoyed laughing, spending time with family and friends, gardening and helping others. Bill was a hard-working, kind and big-hearted person who had many friends and was well liked through out his community.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Broad Run Cemetery with Reverend Roger Brown officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Lewis County Honor Guard.

The family request that flowers be omitted and that donations be made to the American Legion Post 166, Jane Lew, WV. We, at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew appreciate the service and sacrifice of William “Bill” D. Woodson and we are honored and privileged to serve his family.
