Richard Ray Reel, 58 of Lost Creek passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born December 12, 1960 in Weston to Mary Lucille McWhorter Reel, of McWhorter and the late William Forrest Reel. Left to mourn the loss of their very own hero are Richard’s children: R. Nathan Reel with his son Landon Reel, and Nathan’s companion, Cara Golden and her son Noah; Ethan A. Reel with his companion, Samantha Blake and daughter Braelynn; Tasha N. Reel with her companion, Trevor Lipscomb; and Renata R. Reel.

After graduating Lewis County High School in 1979, Richard proudly served his country and is a veteran of the United States Army and Army Reserve. He worked for Hardman Trucking and Reel Trucking before beginning a 24-year career with the WV Department of Highways. When he wasn’t working, Richard enjoyed time with his family and hunting.

Friends are invited to join the family at Pat Boyle Funeral Home located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Brown and Pastor Jackie Chambers officiating.

Interment will follow at Broad Run Cemetery in Jane Lew with full military honors accorded by the United States Army and Lewis County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to McWhorter United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Jackie Chambers, PO Box 48, Jane Lew, WV 26378.
