Eliz Bel Vankirk , August 26, 1954 — December 08, 2018

Eliza “Ike” Bell Vankirk, 80, of Pricetown went home to be with her Lord at 4:14 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Holbrook on the Hill Nursing Facility in Buckhannon. She was born in Lewis County on October 21, 1938 a daughter of the late Raymond Cecil and Bessie Margarete Riffle Goldsmith. On August 26, 1954 she married Walter James Vankirk and they shared just over 51 wonderful years before his passing on September 5, 2005.

Ike is survived by her companion, Jack Bleigh, and his family; six brothers: Harry Goldsmith of Weston, Samuel “Sammy” Goldsmith and wife, Chris, of Walkersville, Claude Goldsmith and wife, Donna, and Ray “Andy” Goldsmith and wife, Vicki, both of Pricetown, and Roger Goldsmith and companion, Sandy, and Jerry Goldsmith both of Weston; three sisters: Delores Smith of Weston; Rosemary Lattea and husband, George, of Jacksons Mill, and Virginia Burkhammer of Weston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ike was preceded in death by two children: Sharon and Vicki Vankirk; and two brothers: Raymond “Bud” Goldsmith and Stanley Goldsmith. While living in Illinois in her younger years, Ike worked for the Sara Lee Bakery.

After the county roads brought her home to West Virginia she spent some time working for WV Glass before following her true calling as a personal care giver. For over 20 years, Ike gave her all to the clients she cared for through Lewis County Senior Center. In her heart, Ike was grandma to many people.

Her loving and kind nature led her to love all people and to help anyone she could. She loved conversation and could talk to anyone. Next to people, flowers were her favorite things and like people she loved them all.

Ike’s request for cremation has been honored and her family and friends will gather at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 10:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 a.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Martin Wine officiating.
