Jimmie George Smith, 76, of Sand Fork, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was born in Ravenna, OH on March 15, 1942 a son of the late George Clark Smith and Ella Mae Jeffries Smith Jewart. On June 27, 1961 Jimmie married the love of his life Naomi Ruth Facemire.

Together they shared just over 57 years of marriage and she will miss her husband dearly. Jimmie’s hardworking and compassionate spirit will be remembered by one son, James Wesley “Wes” Smith and wife, Terry, of Burnsville; one grandson, James Casey Smith and companion, Madison Wells, of Morgantown; one sister, Helen Uhl and husband, Dick, of Kersey, PA; five half-siblings: Wanda Jewart, Timothy Jewart, Pam Barring and husband, Ed, all of Kearny, NJ, Bruce Smith of OH, and Lisa Helmick and husband, Ophie, of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, one infant sister, Judith Ann Smith, preceded Jimmie in death.

In 1961, Jimmie began his service to his country as an electrician in the United States Air Force. During his four-year tour he was stationed in Bermuda, New Mexico and Delaware. His loving wife accompanied him to every duty station and worked on each base.

After his service, Jimmie made a career of being a “Jack-of-all-Trades”. He could do and did most anything in construction. He even spent time as an appliance technician.

Jimmie loved conversation. He was so witty, outgoing and intelligent he could talk to anyone about anything. He also loved quiet time in the woods.

He was an avid hunter of deer, wild turkey and elk. In his down time he like to watch westerns such as Gun Smoke and the Virginian, but Law Man was his favorite. His love of God led him to spend many hours reading and studying the Bible.

He also enjoyed watching Shepherd’s Chapel. Jimmie’s request for cremation has been honored and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. We, at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, appreciate the service of Jimmie George Smith and we’re honored and privileged to serve his family.
