Obituary for Sybil Fauntleroy Ray Sybil Fauntleroy Ray, 88, passed away quietly at home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. She was one of four daughters born to Leonard and Lena Daigle Fauntleroy. She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Thibodaux.

She attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute and Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse who practiced many years with her husband, Dr. Paul Ray. She is survived by her five children, Dr. P. Truett Ray (Karen), Dorcas Albares (Dan), Dr. Jonathan Ray (Karen), Melissa Mackey Gervais (Rusty), and Dr. Jason Ray (Lisa).

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Paul Ray; her parents, Leonard and Lena Daigle Fauntleroy; and her sisters, Rosalie Barker (Robert), Beverly Jones (Jimmy) and Edith “Dotsy” George Smith (Stan). Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation that will be held in her honor on Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday, September 24, 2018, from 8:30 am until 10:45AM at Landry’s Funeral Home, Thibodaux, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, LA. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
