Thomas Joseph Crowley MARQUETTE, MI – Thomas Joseph Crowley, age 69, of Marquette, entered eternal life Friday, April 20, 2018. Born April 5, 1949, in Ishpeming, a son of Paul and Cecelia Crowley, Tom moved with his family to Marquette as a young boy. He was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School and, following graduation, enrolled at Northern Michigan University pursuing a degree in physical education.

At the same time, he also received certification for elementary education. … Read More » On July 28, 1973, Tom married Cynthia Wachter and together the couple established their home and raised two children. Following completion of his baccalaureate degree, Tom began a teaching career at Bishop Baraga School teaching fifth grade.

He later was employed for a brief time at the Mather B Mine as an underground miner, prior to taking a position as a corrections officer at the Marquette Branch Prison. He transferred to the Munising corrections facility, Camp Cusino, working there until his retirement with the rank of lieutenant. In his spare time, Tom, loved playing golf, playing men’s fast pitch softball, avid music enthusiast and in younger years enjoyed playing basketball.

Tom is survived by his two children; Kevin (Tabitha) Crowley of Milan, MI and Meghan (John) Sehl of Gaylord, MI; four grandchildren, Jase and Everett Crowley and Jaylin and Dayton Sehl; and his sister, Beverly (Steve) Richer of Green Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, James Crowley. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
