MARIETTA, GA-MARQUETTE, MI – Kathryn E. Lawrence, age 92, died February 8, 2018, at Greenwood Assisted Living in Marietta, Georgia. She was born December 22, 1925, in Munising, the daughter of Ernest and Cornelia Cannon. A graduate of Munising High School, she attended Secretarial School in Detroit, before marrying Roy M. Lawrence in December 1948.

She also obtained an Associate’s Degree from Northern Michigan University in her 40’s while raising three children and working full time. Prior… Read More » to retirement in 1980 she was employed at Michigan Bell in the Engineering Department. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Marquette, where she served faithfully.

An active weaver, Kathryn was a member of the local weaver’s club and among her hobbies, she enjoyed cooking, weaving, knitting, crocheting, and traveling. Upon retirement she took art lessons and became an accomplished painter. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lawrence, parents, two brothers, and an infant son.

Survivors include her children, LouAnn (James) Pressell, and Lynda (Alan) Grodd of Marietta, GA, and Scott (Marissa) Lawrence of Oroville, CA; six grandchildren, Erika Bruns, Gretchen Bryant, Jared Pressell, David Grodd, Kristen Leonard, and Jabez Lawrence; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by her family and many beloved friends. Private interment was made in the Park Cemetery, Marquette.
