Verlin Gene Boeder October 16, 1940 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Verlin Gene Boeder, 78, died 2/17/2019, under hospice comfort care at home with his family at his side. His sister Marcy, a retired nurse from Bloomington MN helped his wife Cheryl give him care during his last week battling pancreatic cancer. The funeral will be held on Saturday 2/23 at 10:30 AM at Emmanuel Ev.

Lutheran Church at 715 West Southern Ave. in Tempe, AZ where he was an elder and a deacon. He was born in Watertown, SD on 10/16/1940 and his parents were Wilmar and Evelyn Boeder.

He graduated with a Masters in Science from South Dakota State University. He also has a Masters in Plant Genetics from the University of Arizona. He did cotton research in Lubbock, TX for many years working for the company Chembred.

Later he started a company called Bee Control Specialists in Phoenix, AZ. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force ROTC. In Arizona on 2/17/1968, Pastor E. Arnold Sitz married Verlin and Cheryl Boy who met at South Dakota State Univ.

in a Bible study group. Their son Jon was born on 1/17/1969 and was baptized by Pastor Sitz. In his spare time, Verlin loved to build remote control airplanes and was a proud member of the East Valley Aviators for many years.

He was also a proud supporter of the NRA and the Second Amendment. He loved biking and hiking around the area. He was survived by his wife Cheryl and their son Jon; his sister Marcy Sapuriada and her daughter Vicky Johnson and her granddaughter Katie Hansen.
