Obituary for Vicki Schafer Vicki Eileen Schafer of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away from her 20 year battle with cancer at 12:40am on Sunday, August 26th 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Vicki was born on July 27th, 1951 in Richmond, Virginia to George and Marjorie Boehm. Vicki married Don W. Schafer on June 15th, 1973.

She is survived by her husband Don, two children TJ (EJ) Edgington, grand daughter Lillian of Ankney, IA and Matt (Jill) Schafer, grandson Rohnin of Bondurant, IA; brother, George (Marsha) Boehm of Sebastian Florida; sister, Marianne (Thomas) Biscoe of Frackville Pennsylvania; brother James (Amber, deceased) Boehm; sister Becky Markley; sister Betty (Pint, deceased) Zake; sister Martha (William) Coombe, all of Springfield, Illinois; sister in law Marilyn (Ken) Alderson, Springfield, Illinois, brother in law Bob Schafer of Pleasant Plains, Illinois; two cousins and several nieces and nephews. Vicki’s greatest joy in life and proudest achievement was raising her children and watching them grow up and become successful parents themselves. Before Vicki had grandchildren of her own, she had the wonderful opportunity to help shape the lives of her “pseudo” grandchildren, Alexa and Owen Niemi.

Vicki’s hobbies include cooking, boating and reading novels. Vicki loved hosting her family and friends for any and all occasions and her famous Bloody Marys were ALWAYS on the menu. Come help us celebrate Vic and Don’s last “FRIDAY NIGHT DATE NIGHT” A celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 14th from 4pm-10pm at The District Venue located at 1350 SW Vintage Pkwy.

Ankeny, IA 50023. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice in Vicki’s name. Any deliveries for the family may be made after 11 AM on Friday, September 14th at The District Venue, 1350 SW Vintage Pkwy in Ankeny.
