Obituary for Victoria Malec Victoria Malec, lifelong resident of Hamtramck, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on November 16, 2018. She was 96 years of age. Victoria was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 6, 1922, daughter of the late Jacob and Josephine (Rosinski) Bonkowski.

She grew up in Hamtramck and met a boy that lived two doors down by the name of Walter Malec. When Walter was away at war, they began writing to eachother and fell in love. The couple was united in marriage in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, made their home back in Hamtramck and was blessed with four children of whom they loved and cherished.

She was an excellent cook and used her talents working at Betty’s BBQ for many years, as well as, cooking her fish and chips around town. Victoria always looked forward spending her summer months in Decker, Michigan. She loved tending to her garden, raising her chickens and just relaxing fishing.

Victoria was a patient, caring and easygoing woman who was a great listener. She will be deeply missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever. Victoria is the loving wife of the late Walter; dearest mother of Sharon Lukasik, Darlene (Rick) Muller and the late Ronald and Daniel Malec; cherished grandmother of Brian (Christy), Timothy (Corinne), Richard (Kathleen), Sheryl (Andrew), Dawn (David), Jennifer (John), Gregory (Melissa) and Steven; and dear great grandmother of eleven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Tuesday 2pm – 8pm and Wednesday 10am until the time of funeral at 11am.
