VIOLA JOYCE PHELPS July 26, 1936 – March 2, 2019 Joyce Phelps at the age of 82 left this mortal life on March 2, 2019. She was born in Ogden, a daughter of George Rulon Walker and Enda Lorraine Young. Joyce grew up in Wilson Lane graduating from Weber High School.

She later met and married Sheldon Ezra Phelps on August 1, 1959. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Sheldon passed away in 2002.

She worked many years for Ogden School District’s Child Nutrition Program at Dee Elementary and Central Middle School where she met some of her dearest friends and received the Outstanding Classified Professional Food Service Manager Award. Joyce was fortunate enough to travel the country with her friend Bonnie and enjoy many adventures, including historical sights and Broadway plays and musicals. She was an active member of the Rushton Heights Ward and most recently served as the chorister, which she loved.

Joyce is survived by her siblings; Beverly Davis, Mark (Cheryl) Walker. Children; Helen (Kent) Toponce, Lyle (Kristeen) Phelps and Susan Williamson; 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. The family would like to thank her loving neighbors and friends who were always there for her.

Service will be held at Rushton Heights ward, 1550 Rushton Street at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 8, 2019. Prior to services a viewing will be held from 9:40 – 10:40 a.m. Interment will be held at Aultrorest.
