Virigina Randoph Belmont November 12, 1917 – December 16, 2018 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Virginia Randolph Belmont, 101 years of age, died peacefully on December 16, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born November 12, 1917 in Lynchburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of John Randolph Tweedy and Lois Pearl Finch. She was preceded in death by her sister Margret Baldock and her husband, John and her brother, Warren “Sonny” Monroe.

Sonny’s wife Jeannie lives in Charlotte, N.C. Virginia was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Howard S. Haithcock (father of their two children) and William P. Belmont. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Carolyn H. McClellan and her husband, Jay, of Charlottesville, Va. and her son, Howard S. (Peter) Haithcock and his wife Henrietta of Franklin N.C. Virginia had three grandchildren Molly Haithcock of Franklin, N.C, Catherine Haithcock of Ashville, N.C. and Rand McClellan who lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Wendy.

In addition, Virginia had three great grandsons, Connor, Spencer and Chase McClellan; and a brother, Marvin B. (Pete) Monroe and his wife, Grace live in Lynchburg, Va. Her family and friends all thought of Virginia as the epitome of a Southern gentlewoman. She was beautiful, kind and caring.

As she aged and her mobility declined, it was notable that she never complained. She always had a smile on her face and encouraged her family, visitors and aides to talk about themselves. Her gift to them was her combination of wit and wisdom which was always appreciated.

Her spirit will live on and she will be missed. While at Our Lady of Peace, Virginia was well cared for and her family is very grateful to their Staff, the CNA’s and especially to Linda Cabell. In addition, they are thankful for the loving attention of Janet Ruggiero, RN from Hospice of the Piedmont.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 3, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 would be appreciated.
