Kathryn Jean Allen Payne January 04, 1916 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Kathryn Jean Allen Payne died Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born in Alburnett, Iowa, the daughter of the late Dr. Paul Edward Allen and Mildred Gertrude Quinn Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Payne, USN retired.

From there the family moved to Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Iowa and later received a Masters degree in Nursing from the Catholic University of America. She was a member of South Plains Presbyterian Church in Keswick, Sigma Theta Tau – the honor society in nursing, Albemarle Chapter DAR and Chapter AQ P.E.O.Sisterhood.

She is survived by two sons, James Robert Payne, Jr. of Spring Hill, Tenn. , his wife Rebecca, and Paul Reece Payne of Atlantic Beach, N.C., and his wife Linda. She will forever be remembered affectionately as Mimi Payne to her four grandchildren, Kathryn E. Payne Warren (Matthew), Cassandra M. Payne Fish (Tim), Rachel Q. Payne Harrison (Eric), Justin M. Payne (Mandy), and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted in the South Plains Presbyterian Church, Keswick, Va. at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019.
