Wava May Armstrong, 94, formerly of the Hayesville area died Sunday July 15, 2018 at Crystal Care Nursing Home. She was born in Ashland County on September 17, 1923 the daughter of Edward and Ada Strang Stitzlein. Wava was a 1941 graduate of Loudonville High School and was a member of Loudonville Zion Lutheran Church.

On January 1, 1945 she married Richard Armstrong and together they farmed until his death on April 26, 2003. She is survived by four daughters; Carol (Francis) Gaines of Loudonville, Susan Goard of Columbus, Sharon (Will) Crider and Tish Bailey both of Hayesville, two sons; Joseph (Kathi) Armstrong and Ronald (Marlene) Armstrong both of Hayesville, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a sister; Norma Snyder of Loudonville, a sister-in-law; Colleen Stitzlein of Loudonville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Bessie Hoyer, Thelma Portz and Dorothy Snyder and four brothers; Walter, Carl, Clovis and Robert Stitzlein.

Services will be 2:00pm Saturday July 21, 2018 at Fickes Funeral Home with grandson Kurt Armstrong officiating and great granddaughter Halley Kirby providing music. Burial will be at Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12:30pm until the time of the service.
