Obituary for William (Bill) Holloway William R. (Bill) Holloway, 75 of Grand Island went to his heavenly home on July 4th, 2018 at CHI Health-St. Francis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Celebrating Mass will be Father Don Buhrman.

Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 PM at All Faiths Funeral Home. Bill was born in Aurora Nebraska on August 4th,1942 to Roy and Valetta (Marvel) Holloway.

He received his education at Aurora H.S. graduating with the class of 1960. He married Betty A. Nolan on April 20th 1963 in Grand Island, Nebraska. To this union they were blessed with 4 children, Todd, Cathy, Tim and Curie.

He began his career in law enforcement starting on the Grand Island Police Department on May 16,1966. He served the city of Grand Island for 37 years, beginning as a patrolman on the night shift and ending his career as Captain of the patrol division. He served on many committees including, The Harvest of Harmony Parade and honored as the Parade Marshall for the 2015, Red Cross, Crisis Center, Community Humanitarian Rerdzt/ Center, Child Advocacy, Region 3 Behavioral Health Services, Center for Independent Living and Goodwill Housing Committee.

He lived his life being of service to other’s in many capacities. He received the Grand Island Independent Man of the Year in 2003 and inducted into the Aurora Alumni Hall of Honor at a Class Reunion. Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy (Jim) Bixenmann and Curie (David) Mincer; son, Tim Holloway; grandchildren, Heith, Grant, and Maggy Bixenmann Brianna, Julianna, and Adrianna Mincer, Becca and Dylan Holloway; sisters, Myrt Hinrichs and Mamie (Jerry) Salmon; sisters-in-law, Karen Holloway, Joyce Holloway, Judy (Jim) Votipka and Sharon Nolan; brothers-in-law, Robert (Deb), Ray (Brenda), Mike (Bev), Jim (Angie) and Gary (Nancy) Nolan; many nieces and nephews and his Brothers and Sisters in Arms from the Grand Island Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his son, Todd; his parent’s, Roy and Valetta; mother and father-in-law, John and Vera Nolan; brothers, Robert and Wilbur and brothers-in-law, Tom Nolan and Melvin Hinrichs.
