William Claiborne Blair October 19, 1926 – January 16, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card William Claiborne Blair, age 91 of Loudon, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Mr. Blair resided in Loudon in the home where he was born. After attending Browder School and Loudon High School where he played football, Mr. Blair served in the US Army, worked for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the CIA in Washington, D.C., received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and taught History in the Loudon County School System where he also enjoyed coaching Boys Basketball for many years.

Mr. Blair was a member and Deacon of the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Ivo Sanders American Legion Post 120 and the Loudon County Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking and designing and creating useful gadgets. Mr. Blair will be remembered by many as a quiet and humble, country gentleman.

Preceded in death by parents, Sam Wiley and Mayme Alice (Hotchkiss) Blair; sisters and brother in-law, Martha Frances Blair, Rachel and N.A. Weaver and his precious great-great niece, Sara Blair Brakebill. He is survived by his beloved and devoted nieces and their spouses Martha and Joseph J. Malloy, Jr., Alice Weaver and William Kapelle; great nieces and nephews, Beth and Merritt Brakebill, Joseph J. and Sharon Malloy, Rachel Blair Kapelle and William Samuel Kapelle; great-great nephews, Wiley and wife Courtney Brakebill, Joseph, Jacob and Joshua Malloy; great-great-great nieces, AvaLeigh Blair and Evelyn Jane Brakebill. Graveside services honoring and remembering Mr. Blair will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 20th in Steekee Cemetery with Rev.

Mark Hester officiating and military honors provided by the US Army and the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 373, Loudon, TN 37774. The family will greet friends Saturday 1:30 – 2:30 PM prior to the service at McGill-Karnes Funeral home, 406 Wharf St. Loudon.
