William J. “Bill” Linkfield, 62, of Marquette, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Friday morning, October 26, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness. Bill was born on March 28, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the oldest of three children born to James and Patricia (Rozelle) Linkfield. He was a 1974 graduate of Creston High School in Grand Rapids.

He worked 17 years for Schelde Enterprises, eventually becoming director of operations. On October 1, 1991, he purchased the Cascade Roadhouse Restaurant in Grand Rapids, which he sold and retired in August of 2014.
After two years of long distance dating, Bill moved to Marquette in 2014 and was married on November 28, 2014 on Little Palm Island, Florida to Cynthia DePetro. Bill enjoyed traveling, spending time on the beach, modeling, racing sailboats, was a downhill skier and avid water skier, and was very handy building projects with his dad. One of Bill’s greatest joys was time spent with his grandson, David.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy DePetro of Marquette; four children, Nicole Marie Linkfield, Jamie Lynn (Dave) Teppo, Thomas Anthony DePetro, Alicia Fae (Ryan) Truschke; grandson, David James Teppo; his parents, James and Patricia Linfield; siblings, Steven (Deb) Linkfield, Kent (Kristen) Linkfield, Todd Green, Pat Green, Julie (Don) Giackino, Jeff (Lynn) Green; also numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Marquette on Saturday, November 3rd from 10 a.m. to 12 noon where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at noon with the Rev. Glenn Theoret officiating and Deacon Scott Jamieson assisting.
A luncheon will take place in Father Gauthier Hall immediately following the mass. A celebration of Bill’s life will also take place at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 3215 Four Mile Road, NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 on Saturday, November 10th from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Beacon House, 1301 N. Third St., Marquette, MI 49855 or Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, 914 W. Baraga Ave. , Marquette, MI 49855 in Bill’s memory.
Faith was a driving force in Bill’s life and the advice he would want to leave with family and friends is: “let the little things go and don’t worry about the things you cannot change”.
