Obituary for Wilson Reco Planter Wilson Reco Planter, the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Bromell Planter, was born on February 28, 1944 in Georgetown, South Carolina. He departed this life on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at home in North Charleston, South Carolina. Reco, as he was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Florence County, South Carolina.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and United States Air Force. He received an Honorable Discharge for his service to his country. After his military career, he became an employee of the Coastal Center where he retired after many years with the company.

He was also employed by Dr. Rhodes at the Animal Hospital and by Charleston County School District. He worked as a substitute teacher and he was loved by all the kids. Reco was lots of fun.

He would crack jokes all day long. He loved music and dancing. His favorites were Al Green and The Stylistics.

“You Are Everything” was his favorite song and the “Pick Up the Paper” was his favorite dance. He also enjoyed talking football with his grandson Nolan. Reco fell ill shortly after moving back to Charleston in 2009.

His darling Mickey gladly assumed the role of his care giver. They talked about the Lord and prayed together. He gave his life to Christ in 2016.

Reco was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth Bromell Planter, sister, Lelia Planter, and grandson, Westland Jordan. Reco leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted daughter of the home, Nichole “Mickey” Planter, two sons, Andrico and Reco R. Planter (Sophia); a daughter, Tiwana L. Jordan (William IV) of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren of the home, Shanoah (Paul), Sadari, Zachary, Joslyn, Diego, Nolan, and Ming’Le Planter; three great-grandchildren of the home, Connor Planter, Nyelle Lucas, and Kalaya Planter; other grandchildren, Tamaiya Planter, Papreon Robinson, Delante “Dell” Hills, Micah Snipe, Jalyn Planter, Tierra Drayton, Ashley Planter, Reco Planter, Kierra Brown, William M. Jordan, VI, Will M. Jordan, and Tahlia L. Jordan; siblings, Lewis Planter (Lusia), Walter Planter, Julius Planter (Michelle), Charles Planter, Richard Planter, Parthenia Upshur, Miki Planter Bromell, Myrtle Caldwell (James), and Edith Planter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
