Obituary for Anthony Monroe Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

(John 14:1-2) So it’s not the end of the story, but just the next chapter. On March 17, 2018 Anthony “Big Stutter” “Nanny” Monroe departed into the loving arms of Jesus. Anthony was born at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY on December 6, 1957 and he was predeceased by his loving parents Perry Monroe Sr. and Betty Monroe and his brother Perry Monroe Jr

He was a member of Faith Church of God in Marlboro, NY. He graduated from Marlboro High School as a star basketball athlete in which he helped to bring them to many state championships. He attended Hudson Valley, Ulster and Westchester Community Colleges.

He was a union construction worker for many years and he was a Veteran 42nd Airborne paratrooper in the United States Army. He is survived by his two daughters Jacqueline and Makayla Monroe (Albany, NY). He is also survived by his siblings Pastor Ruth Faircloth and husband Bishop Max Faircloth Sr. (Milton, NY), Ronald Monroe (Highland, NY), Gina Boone and husband Elliott Boone (Charlotte, NC), Brenda Monroe (Tampa, FL), Terry Jerome Monroe Sr. (Ulster County) and estranged wife Concetta Monroe and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

His big “Teddy Bear” heart will live on in the heart of all those who loved him. Anthony made it to his mansion, The castle on the hill, So do not be teary, but just be still, And know that God’s got him, forever until, We will meet again, God promises we will. Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery, 81 Pine Plains Road, New Paltz. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Patrick J. Halvey of Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, LLC.
