Obituary for Luis Reyes, Jr. Luis Reyes, Jr., a longtime area resident, entered into rest on September 21, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 41 years old. Luis was born on June 20, 1977 the son of the late Luis Reyes, Sr. and Audrey Faitakes Mendoza who survives at home in Wappingers Falls.

Luis was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He was a mechanic, carpenter, electrician and home restorer. He also worked security.

He loved to watch movies and had a passion for car shows, restoring cars and watching races. He also was an artist and enjoyed painting. He also enjoyed playing cards and Spades.

He was the “King of Spades”. He loved his family. He was also known as the “Playa from the Himalayas”.

In addition to his mother, Luis is survived by his daughter, Corina Reyes; his siblings, Elizabeth Reynolds, Diana Reyes, Audrey Otero, Miguel Mendoza, Jr. and Tiffany Mendoza; his step-brothers, Angel M. Mendoza and Miguel A. Mendoza; numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 27 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 28 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Patrick J. Halvey of Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, LLC. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Luis Reyes, Jr. please visit our Sympathy Store.
