Audrey Rosalind Roz (Russell) Grimwood, age 81 of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Hamilton Point. Roz was born to the late Lilbon Dallas Russell and Mary Inez (German) Russell on September 30, 1936. She and her parents were charter members of New Life Baptist Church, formerly Terrace Parke General Baptist Church, where she often sang and played the piano.

After high school graduation Roz was offered a scholarship and attended Evansville College where… Read More » she studied music. Roz grew up as an only child and she always wanted to be around her cousins. One of her most enduring lifelong friendships has been to her cousin Joan Russel-Kiger.

Roz had always dreamed of having a big family of her own. It was no surprise when she and her late husband of 48 years, Derald Raymond Grimwood, Sr., married on May 26, 1956 and had six children. Their home was alive with activity!

When times were hard she would always remind Derald that they possessed all the riches of the of the world. Roz belonged to Zeta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Alpha Society and her sisters have been lifelong friends. She retired after 24 years from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation where she served as an office employee for several schools.

Roz is survived by six children, Derald Raymond Grimwood, Jr. (Kathy), Dedra Rose Shaw (Michael), Derek Russell Grimwood (Jane), Darren Richard Grimwood (Carla), Daniel Robin Grimwood, and Devi Rachelle Rodgers (Andrew); 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Roz was preceded in death by her husband, Derald Raymond Grimwood, Sr., and her granddaughter, Rachel Grimwood. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave.

, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Jeff Harford officiating. Roz will be laid to rest next to her husband at Tabor Cemetery in Haubstadt, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
