Obituary of Bernard TenPas Bernard H. tenPas, 83, of Kennedy, passed away Sunday (October 21, 2018) in UMPC Chautauqua. He was born August 17, 1935 in Winterwijk, Netherlands, the son of the late Jan and Berendina Legters tenPas Sr. Prior to retirement he was employed by Erie-Lackawanna Rail Road which later became Conrail. Bernard was song leader and active member of Lighthouse Baptist Church under Rev.

Dr. Donald V. Erickson. Bernard loved to talk about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was very important to him.

He also had a passion for horses and bred and trained them. Surviving are his wife Sharon Beckerink tenPas whom he married October 12, 1968 in Stockton, NY, having celebrated 50 years of marriage; two sons: Eugene tenPas of Kennedy, Martin L. (Kathy) tenPas of Goode, VA; a daughter Shelley (Dan) Ayers of Raleigh, NC; nine grandchildren: Kristina (Justin) Rhodes of Barboursville,VA, Eugene (Taylor) tenPas Jr. of Cassadaga, Todd (Laura) tenPas of Lynchburg, VA, Austin (Michelle) tenPas of Lynchburg, VA, Holly (Tim) Harding of Falconer, Howard (Ericka) tenPas of Sinclairville, Presley Ayers, Mason Ayers and Hadley Grace Ayers all of Raleigh, NC; four brothers: Jerry tenPas of Canada, Steven (Phyllis) tenPas of Frewsburg, Arend (Evelyn) tenPas of California, Frederick (Sally) tenPas of Georgia and a sister Anna (Piet) Scheurwater of Canada. Also surviving are her adoptive daughter Jennifer (Bruce) Meyers of Olean and her children Kiersten Crabtree, Kerrie Cameron and Elizabeth Crabtree.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Derrik J. tenPas on June 27, 1994, three brothers: Hendrick tenPas, Jan tenPas Jr., J. William tenPas and a sister Dina Greves. The tenPas family would like to thank Dr. Vejendla and the fifth floor staff at UPMC Chautauqua and special neighbors the Crabtree and Steward families for their care and concern. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Clymer Center Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 381 Camp St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
