Betty’s Obituary Services celebrating the life of Betty Matthews Lundy, 88, will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Pine St. Church of Christ in Vivian, LA under the direction of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home, with Bro. Johnny Pistole and Bro. Alvin Swain officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 until time of service at 11 am. Betty was born December 8, 1930 in Mansfield, LA to Jennie Burns Matthews and Aaron Dolphus Matthews and passed away January 20, 2109 in Shreveport, LA. She was a resident of Oil City, LA for most of her life and involved in many activities including the Sorosis Club of Oil City, the Oil City Home Makers Club, Rotary Ann in the Oil City Rotary Club where she was a Paul Harris Fellow member and on the board of the Oil City Housing Authority.

She was active and served on the board of the Caddo Pine Island Oil & Historical Society. She was a later member of the SOC club of Oil City where she enjoyed playing canasta and participating in senior activities. Betty and her late husband, T.J. started Oil City Supply Company in 1962 where she was the bookkeeper for over 30 years.

They were honored by serving as Man and Woman of the Year in 1995 Oil City Gusher Days Festival. Betty was a master at whipping up a lemon icebox pie at a moment’s notice and always brought one or two of her delicious pies to every family gathering. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband T.J. Lundy, her brothers Fred Matthews, Drew Matthews, Aaron Matthews and her sisters Jean Brasher and Agnes Saddler.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Lundy Paul and her husband Tommy Paul, her grandchildren Jenny Paul and her children Anna Claire Demole and Keegan Jonah Demole and Clint Paul and his children Ashlyn Grace Paul and Witten Andrew Paul. She is also survived by her sisters Vada Matthews Kirk and Lottie Matthews McGuire. Serving as pallbearers for Betty will be Les Kirk, Art McGuire, Doug Gaines, Skipper Sanders, Jay Sanders and John King.

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice to honor Mrs. Lundy.
