Harkness, 92, died Thursday afternoon March 21, 2019 at Maple Ridge AFC Home in Lakefield Township. Born March 3, 1927 in L’Anse, daughter of the late Faye and Leatha (Leech) Bryers, Betty married Clyde Harkness on March 5, 1947 and made McMillan their home. Betty was a devoted homemaker raising her family and former member of the Lakefield Baptist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and reading. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband Clyde on August 28, 2018 and her siblings Verne, James and Allen. Survivors include her children Gayla (Garry) Gehrett of McMillan, James (Terese) Harkness of Cascade, MT and Deborah (Michael) Rudolph of Tustin; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings David Bryers of Sault Ste.

Marie, Wilma Case of Grayling, Nina Burkham of Northville and Winnie Lake of Escanaba; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Monday March 25, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Melinda VanderSys officiating.

Interment with take place in the spring at West Lakefield Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bay Cliff Health Camp, P.O. Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808 in her memory. Condolences may be expressed at www.
