Bettye Gene Abbott, age 76, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Bettye was a ward clerk at Pine Crest Manor in Hopkinsville. When she moved to Henderson, she worked with many local pharmacies going on deliveries.

She loved being a caregiver and helping the elderly. Bettye was a faithful woman and enjoyed attending church. Bettye enjoyed having pets, especially raising her dachshund dogs.

Going on vacations was a fun past time when she and her family could find the time to steal away. Bettye was very family oriented. She was a nurturing person who loved being around others.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Ina Wilson, her husband Jerry Abbott, sister Barbara Phillips, and a brother Ronnie Wilson. She is survived by her daughter Donna Burton and her husband Barry of Henderson, KY; son Jeffery Abbott and his wife Tammy of Henderson, KY; 1 sister Patricia Houchens of Hopkinsville, KY; 2 brothers Donald Wilson of Indianapolis, IN and Michael Wilson of Evansville, IN; 5 grandchildren: Christan Suggs and her husband Justin, Jenna Lynn Basham and her husband Brison, Dylan Abbott, Lindsay Fuchs, and Lyndsey Scott; 3 great grandchildren: Lexie Snyder, Jarrick Snyder, Kennedy Scott; and her beloved dog Precious. Relatives and friends are invited to Bettye’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 and again on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Watkins, Diane Bollinger, Shirley Colliver, and the staff of St. Anthony’s Hospice for the excellent care given to their mother.
