WILLIAM HART “BILL”’s Obituary William Hart “Bill” Goldey, 84, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. While playing basketball at Holy Name High School under Coach Dick Barr from 1950 to 1952, Bill received many awards and achievements and caught the attention of college scouts.

He played and received basketball scholarships at both Butler University and Southwest Louisiana University. He also served for four years in the United States Air Force where he played impressive basketball. Bill was a high school basketball referee throughout Kentucky for more than 30 years and was inducted into the Henderson County Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.

He was a retired accountant with Big Rivers Electric Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Arthur and Mary Lorine Drury Goldey; and one brother, Robert Carroll Goldey. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Sutton Goldey; two daughters, Julie Geer and her husband, Casey, of Henderson, Kentucky, and Jennifer Greenwell and her husband, Randy, of Morganfield, Kentucky; one sister, Jeannine Goldey O’Nan and her husband, Ralph, of Henderson, Kentucky; two brothers, James Denton Goldey and his wife, Linda, of Concord, California, and Henry Anthony Goldey of Henderson, Kentucky.

“Da” is also survived by seven grandchildren, Elliott Geer, Allyson Geer, Liz Greenwell White and her husband, Drew, Isaac Greenwell, Sam Greenwell, Simon Greenwell, and Benson Greenwell; three great-grandchildren, Sutton White, Abbott White, and Roman Dixon; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at noon Wednesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law. Bill’s family wants to extend a special thanks to the staff of Methodist Hospital, Redbanks, St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center, and all of his caregivers. Online condolences may be made at www.
