Obituary for Beulah Gail “”Gail”” Settlemyre (Parham) Gail Parham Settlemyre, 78, of Hudson, went to her heavenly home on October 23, 2018, after her previous and recent battles with cancer. She was born December 31, 1939, daughter of the late Mingus Haynes Parham and Beulah Honeycutt Parham. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Franklin Parham (infant), Ralph Parham, Joyce Murphy, Raydee Parham (Infant), and Ruby Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Billy Joe “Whitey” Settlemyre, brother Eugene Parham (Beth). Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, Toby White (Ben), Tonya McDaniel (WL), Billy Settlemyre (Missy), and Regina Greenough (John). Grandchildren Megan Hollander (Bryan), Emily Hunsinger (Ben), Taylor McDaniel (Mandy), Ethan McDaniel (Heather), Nicholas Settlemyre, Brandon Settlemyre, Turner Greenough (Candice), Kyndall Greenough, and Matthew Greenough (Kayla).
Great-grandchildren Max, Leo, and Lucy Hollander; Paislyn and Camden Greenough; Gabe, Maddox, and Sully Gray McDaniel. She was a faithful member of Clover Baptist Church in Granite Falls, and enjoyed spending time with the Prime Timers, her Sunday school class, and participating in mission activities. She recently participated with her missionary group assembling 350 Christmas shoe boxes for Samaritan’s Purse.
She is a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and always will be. Gail enjoyed quilting, her flowers, feeding birds, but mostly being surrounded by her whole family who say her cooking is the best in the world, and without any recipes. She cooked like she lived life…by heart.
The family will receive friends at Clover Baptist Church on Friday, October 26, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Clover Baptist Church, 100 Pinewood Road in Granite Falls with Reverend Keith Childers officiating. Following the service, burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 1545 Orchard Drive in Lenoir.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Taylor, Turner, Ethan, Matthew, Nicholas, and Brandon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clover Baptist Church Building Fund or Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 904 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
