Billie Jean Buchholz, age 80, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Billie was born on March 28, 1938 in Granite City, a daughter of the late William Carl Irvin and Alma Louise (Martin) Irvin. On October 28, 1989, Billie married Donald Leo “Buck” Buchholz in Granite City, IL.

Donald passed away on April 14, 2012. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. Billie loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Adcock; and by a grandson, Alexander Richards; son, Robert Steven Benda. She is survived by her loving sons, Daniel (Deborah Langston) Benda, Phillip (Kim) Benda and Andy (Heather) Richards, all of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to Phillip Benda, Michael Benda, Ryan Benda, David Benda, Stephanie Benda, Mackenzie Richards and Dominic Richards; great-grandchildren, Riley Benda, Haley Benda; extended family and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. Memorial donations may be given to the National Stroke Association. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
