Obituary for Mr. Carl Odell Chapman Carl Odell Chapman, 89, husband of the late Imojean Townes Chapman, formerly of Burnt Tanyard Road, Salem, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2019, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. A native of Salem, SC, Mr. Chapman was the son of the late Fields and Fannie Bryant Chapman. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in occupied Germany following WWII.

He went on to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years. Mr. Chapman retired from Sloan Construction. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his daughter: Teresa Chapman Leary (Kenneth) of Anderson, SC; brother: Billy Chapman of Pickens, SC; grandchildren: Hunter Leary (Hannah), Caroline Leary Gaddis (William); and great-grandchildren: Townes Leary and John Walt Leary. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his brothers: Newman Chapman, Marion Chapman and Herbert Chapman; and sisters: Lillian Stewart and Genell Holcombe Rochester. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 31, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home, with military honors.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621. The family is at their respective homes.
