Obituary of Carmella DeBlasio Carmella M. DeBlasio, age 94, of Painted Post, NY passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 surrounded by family at Absolut Care of Three Rivers. Carmella was born on February 20, 1924 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Lamona) Sorge. She married Stephen DeBlasio on June 29, 1946 at St. Mary’s Church in Corning.

He predeceased her in 1996. She was a graduate of the Elmira Business School, beginning work as a rate clerk for Erie Lackawanna Railroad. She later began working in purchasing for Corning, Inc retiring in 1981 after 15 years of service.

Carmella was a communicant of All Saints Parish. In her free time she will be remembered for her love of shopping – always enjoying trips to Walmart. She was an amazing cook who enjoyed feeding friends and family whenever she could.

Her greatest joy was her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by daughter, Davida Telehany of Painted Post, NY; grandchildren: Edward (Annette) Mattison of Corning, NY, Kelley (David) Powers of Painted Post, NY; great grandchildren: Cassandra (Cody) Reynolds, Corrina, Arianna and Delilah Mattison and Emily and Jacob Powers; sister, Jean (Charlie) Woodhouse of Painted Post, NY; special friends: Virginia Darcangelo, Mary Fernandes, Gina Ruocco; special lunch friends at Three Rivers: Nellie Kinney, Robin Johnson and Vonda Smith.

In addition to her parents, Carmella was predeceased by her brother, Francis Sorge; son-in-law, James Telehany; childhood best friend, Antoinette Berleue; special sister-in-law, Helen Sorge; and good friend and neighbor, Helen Watlock. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Park Ave. , Corning, NY, Deacon Ray Defendorf officiating.

A luncheon will immediately follow at the Central Restaurant in Painted Post. Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carmella’s name may be made to: All Saints Televised Mass, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830, Corning Community Food Pantry, 11715 E. Corning Rd, Corning, NY 14830 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.

stjude.org. The family would like to thank Corning Hospital ICU and the 2nd Floor for the wonderful care they provided and to Three Rivers for the five years of wonderful care and comfort provided in her final days.
