Obituary of Francis Philip Francis A. Philip, age 94, of Lindley, NY, died peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. Born on June 10, 1924 in Corning, Frank was the son of Loretto and Josephine (Franza) Philip. He started working in Carlos’ Bakery on Sunset Drive at the age of 10, and for the railroad as a section hand in his younger years.

Frank was a graduate of Corning Free Academy and served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He graduated from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston, MA. He retired in 1996 as a staff accountant for Urban Renewal and Community Development Agency Administration of HUD.

He was a Past President of the Corning Lion’s Club, was a Boy Scout Master, and a member of Marconi Lodge, Northside Club, and the Elks. He was a communicant of All Saints Parish and was very active in St. Patrick’s Church. He is survived by his life partner, Mary Thomas of Lindley; daughters, Cheryl (William) Rowe of Corning and Denise (Brian) Fish of Tioga, PA; sons, Michael (Lisa) Philip of L’Anse, MI, Francis (Teresa) Philip, II of Corning, and Charles (Marilyn) Philip of Corning; sister, Sally (Jim Green) Johnson of Naples, FL; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Paul Miles of Utica; NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frank was predeceased by his wife Janet (Jones); daughter, Theresa Miles; second wife Carol Pete; and brothers, Archangelo (Arky), Joseph, John, Albert, and Leonard. Calling hours will be held on Sunday July 1st from 1 until 4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. 216 East Frist Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street in Corning.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830 or to a charity of your choice.
