Obituary of Eugene DeMonstoy Eugene C. DeMonstoy, age 86, of Addison, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at home. He was born on January 23, 1932 in Sonora, NY, the son of Eugene W. and Ireta (Robbins) DeMonstoy. He married Rita M. Crane on October 9, 1954 at Addison Baptist Church.

She predeceased him on June 1, 2012. Eugene was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Addison American Legion, and he was a self-employed carpenter having built many houses in the Addison area. He was a member of the Addison Fire Department having previously served as Fire Chief, an honorary member of the Tuscarora Fire Department and he helped to purchase the first ambulance in Addison.

Eugene cherished the time he spent with family and he enjoyed traveling to the casino to try his luck. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan but he also was a Mets fan. He is survived by his children, Geraldine Van Zile, Frank (Rose) DeMonstoy, Rick (Margaret) DeMonstoy, and Toni (Charlie Howser) Eccleston, grandchildren, Becky (Randy Baker) Brown, Matthew (Jennifer) Brown, Gerald (Morgan Pierce) Eccleston, Rita (David Cunningham) Eccleston, Eugene (Jennifer) DeMonstoy, Heather Thomas, and Maranda Thomas, great grandchildren , Alexandra Price, Cierra Smith, Justice Clark, Elaina Cornell, Frank DeMonstoy, Brianna DeMonstoy, Trista Brown, Khloe Cunningham, Bailey Cunningham, Abrem O’Brien, Breanna Holbrook, Riley Hess, and Leo Thomas-Fogerty, great great grandchildren, Hunter and Bentley, and canine companion, Molly.

Eugene was predeceased by his daughter, Becky Lynn DeMonstoy, granddaughter, Andrea DeMonstoy Cornell, and siblings, Iris (Norman) Taft, Lois Jamison, Betty Simmons, and Louis DeMonstoy. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall Street, Addison, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A celebration of Eugene’s life will be held there Thursday at 11:00 am.

Full Military Honors and burial will follow at Addison Rural Cemetery. Those wishing may make donations to Care First, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870 or Addison Fire Department, 1 Tuscarora Street, Addison, NY 14801.
