Obituary of Jane King Jane C. King, age 81, of Big Flats, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Bethany Manor. She was born on February 12, 1937 in Corning, the daughter of George Chester and Dora Mae (Gillette) Clute. She married Harry E. King Jr. on June 25, 1966 at Christ Episcopal Church in Corning.

Jane retired from Corning Inc. in 1969. She was Big Flats Citizen of the Year in 1996, a member of the Big Flats Lions Club, and was Big Flats Parks Commissioner from 1982 to 1990. Jane served on the Big Flats Board of Assessment Review for the past 12 years as well as a past assessor for the Town of Big Flats.

She was also active on the Chemung County Republican Committee. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harry E. King Jr., son, George D. King of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren, Scott Douglass King, Sara May King, and Shawn Eugene King all of Mt. Holly, North Carolina.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, George Chester and Dora Mae Clute and her brother, Alan Douglass Clute. It was Jane’s wish that there be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hope Cemetery in Corning.
