Obituary of Carolyn Congdon Carolyn Jean Congdon, age 91, of Painted Post, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. She was born on September 18, 1926 in Horseheads, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (Beardsley) Shafer. She was a graduate of Horseheads High School, class of 1942.

She married Charles Landis Congdon on November 21, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. Charles preceded her in death on November 26, 2003. Carolyn was a bank teller for Central Trust in Painted Post, NY retiring in1981 with over 25 years of service.

After retirement, Carolyn and Charles spent 21 winters in Florida. Carolyn was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Painted Post. Her survivors include three daughters: Linda (Jerry) Sewell of Panama City, FL, Barbara Gillen of Arlington, TX, Margie Miraglia of Painted Post, NY; two sons: Don (Cyndi) Congdon of Sarasota, FL, Terry (Marilyn) Congdon of Fairport, NY; grandchildren: Bobbi Jo, Mark, Melanie, Eddie, Nicole, Angie, Don, Jr., Marky, Heather, Ashley, Whitney, Elizabeth; 24 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was predeceased by her grandchildren: Chuckie, Lonnie and Hannah; siblings: Maude, Pete and Marge; and son-in-law, Sid Gillen. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Carolyn’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Sarah and Amber for the loving care they provided their mother over the last four years, they were her angels on earth.
