Obituary of Robert Mechalke Robert F. Mechalke, Jr., age 55, of Corning, NY passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at home with his family due to complications with Squamous cell lung cancer. Bob was born August 5, 1962 in Elmira, NY to Robert F. Mechalke Sr. and Carol M. (Lockner) Mechalke. He married Laura J. Scott on August 24, 1996.

He is survived by his wife: Laura J. (Scott) Mechalke; three sons: Zane, Robert, and Chris Mechalke; mother: Carol M. (Lockner) Mechalke of Corning, NY; sister: Cathy Mechalke of SC; three brothers: Martin (Kara) Mechalke of Elmira, NY, Peter (Barb) Mechalke of Trumansburg, NY and Chris Mechalke of Corning , NY; along with many nieces and nephews. Bob’s favorite parts of life were being with his family and especially spending time with his three sons as a devoted stay-at-home Dad. He enjoyed volunteering his time with the Big Flats Little League (helped coach and managed the concession stand), Cub Scouts (den leader and pinewood derby enthusiast), and All Saints Parish (catechist).

In his free time he enjoyed watching the Yankees, studying genealogy, bowling in his Thursday night league at Crystal Lanes, and supporting his sons as members of the Corning Hawks baseball, football, and track programs. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St. Corning, NY on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 3:00pm-5:00pm. A Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State St, Corning, NY 14830 on Wednesday, June 20th at 9:30am.

Burial will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Big Flats Little League Baseball, P.O. Box 235 Big Flats, NY 14814.
