Obituary of Virginia Clifford Virginia L. (Sullivan) Clifford, age 94, of Painted Post, formerly of Dennis, MA (Cape Cod), died Friday, June 15, 2018 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post. Ginny was born on July 15, 1923 in Corning to Maynard and Carrie (Schriver) Smith. She was a graduate of CFA, Cornell University, and held a Master’s Degree from Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John S. Sullivan and Richard M. Clifford. She taught Home Economics at BOCES in Horseheads, NY. She was an avid golfer, bowler, bridge player, and gardener.

Ginny loved and enjoyed her many dogs. She is survived by three sons, Robert (Shirley) Sullivan of Avon, CT, Jack (Mary) Sullivan of Corning, NY and Jim (Janice) Sullivan of Bradford, NY; grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Sullivan, Michele (David) Sweitzer, Jack (Lisa) Sullivan, Jennifer (Dominic) Farrell, Sandy (Kevin) Harrell, Brad Sullivan, Geoff Burke, and Greg Burke; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews. Ginny was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Elliott; brothers, Senator William Smith and Frank Smith.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 21st from 5 – 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats. Memorial donations may be made to Chemung County Humane Society, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903, www.
