Cathcart M. “Scotty” McCurdie, 82, of South Bend, IN passed away at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Caring Junction, South Bend. He was born on April 24, 1936 in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland to the late Gilbert, stepfather and Helen (McCurdie) McCurdie. On July 27, 1955 in Old Cumnock, Scotland, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” (Quig) McCurdie.

Scotty is survived by his son, Gilbert Q. McCurdie of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Nicholas McCurdie, Jamie (Kyle) Hudak, and Lindsay (Brad) Messersmith and six great grandchildren, Kayla McCurdie, Hayden McCurdie, Phoebe Hudak, Cohen Hudak, Layla Messersmith, and Rory Messersmith; sister, Flora Clark of Scotland and four brothers, Gilbert (Melinda) Clark of South Bend, IN, Tommy (Iris) Clark of England, Robert ( Margaret) Clark of Scotland and Andrew (Susan) Clark of Scotland. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews; his 4-legged companions, “Mandy” and “Bubba” and special friends, Jackie & Dave Miley. Scotty retired from Dodge Reliance Electric after thirty years of service.

He previously worked as a coal miner and an iron pourer supervisor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mishawaka and Caledonia Kilty Band, Mishawaka, IN. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 401 Lincolnway East, Mishawaka, IN.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
