Charles David’s Obituary Charles David (Jake) Fite died peacefully at home Friday, January 25, 2019 at the age of 74. A Celebration of Jake’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Ringgold cemetery at 2 p.m. Jake was born September 16, 1944 in Houston to Coy D. and Bennie Fite.

He grew up in Ringgold, TX graduating from Goldburg High School as valedictorian, and was an All-District basketball player. He earned a bachelors degree from Tarleton State University where he was student body president, and president of the rodeo club. He went to Texas Tech University for a M. Ed.

where he was president of the collegiate FFA chapter. Jake taught two years at Valley View- Kamay, then 31 years at Burkburnett High School, retiring in 2001. Jake judged numerous livestock shows in Texas and Oklahoma, classified steers at all major stock shows in Texas, and worked with many students who showed champion livestock.

He enjoyed training and showing cutting horses for many years. He was a member of the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, American Quarter Horse Association, National Cutting Horse Association and attended the Texoma Cowboy Church. Jake is survived by his wife Karen, children Chance Fite and wife Deidra of Olney, Cayce Pringle and husband Richard of Comanche, Susan Brown and husband Mike of Arlington, sister Kathy Frank of Ringgold, and step-daughters Vanessa Smith and husband Josh of Nocona and Jessica Rollins and husband Braden of Bossier City.

He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Carson Fite, Cody Fite, Clay Fite, Hayden Hill, Cade Hill, Rhett Hanson, Raney Pratt, Roan Pratt, Chloe Brown, Katherine Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Kelci Smith, and Kason Smith. The family suggests that memorials be made in Jake’s name to Burkburnett FFA, 109 Kramer, Burkburnett, Texas 76354 or Burkburnett AG Booster Club, PO Box 333, Burkburnett, TX 76354.
