Obituary for Charles Edward Smith Jr. Charles E. Smith, 94, of Mohawk, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, following a brief illness. He owned and operated a dairy farm and raised tobacco for many years. He attended Dodson Creek United Methodist Church as health permitted.

He was a World War II veteran (Army). He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Smith Sr. and Lillie Jane West Smith of Hawkins County; brothers, William Kenner Smith Sr. and Matt L. Smith; half-brothers, Jim and John Smith; sisters, Bonnie Pease, Elizabeth Patterson, Addie Booker, Chester Smith; several brothers and sisters who died in infancy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bennie Kite Smith; daughters, Sherri Smith and Traci (Scott) Davis; stepson, Eddie (Andra) Kite; grandchildren, Skylar, Alison, and Andrew Davis, Valerie (Ricky) Garber; great-grandson, Maddox Garber; sisters-in-law Bonnie Smith, Rose Smith, and Ethel, Bonnie, and Shirley Kite; many beloved nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Harvey Moore; and dear family friend, Dorothy Overholt. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev.

Floyd Ward and Rev. Richard Long officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at Kite Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Tippins, Doug Tippins, Bill Smith, Wayne Ward, Scott Davis and Eddie Kite. Honorary pallbearer is Andrew Davis. Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville is serving the family.
