Obituary for Mary Kate Barbour Mary Kate Housewright Persinger Barbour, 90, has gone home. She was born July 21, 1928 and died September 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert “Bob” and Emma Christian Housewright; her first husband, Ernest Clyde Persinger; her second husband, Roy “Pat” Barbour; her brothers, Willard, Wiley, Thomas, Clint, Joe, and Fred Housewright.
She leaves behind her daughters, Gladys Owens and Stella Greer; son, James William “Jimmy” Persinger, of Church Hill and his fiancé Penny Flowers Gustafson, of Kingsport; grandchildren, Shawn Owens, Kevin Owens, Brandy Greer, Christopher Greer and his wife Hope Blankenbeckler Greer, of Church Hill, Arielle Pierson, of Tazewell; great grandchildren, Alex Owens, Peyton Owens, Levi Owens, Michael Owens, Jessica Owens, Mason Owens, Ezra Owens, Faith Greer and Kate Greer of Church Hill; great grandchild, Lucas Dean Satler “Peanut” Owens; brothers, Blayne and Frankie Dishner Housewright, and Wayne Housewright; sister in law, Inez Marshall Housewright; special daughter (niece) Georgia Greer; special son, Billy Linkous; special grandchildren, Tammy and Chuck Hammonds, and daughter Michaela, Michael Gustafson Jr. and son, Michael Ross Gustafson; extended family, Mt. Vernon Independent Missionary Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Amedisys for their loving care of our mother.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 29th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Billy Linkous and Evangelist Darrell Thacker officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Elms Springs Methodist Church Cemetery.
