Obituary for Irene Manis Mable “Irene” Manis, age 94, went to be with her Lord on July 5, 2018. Being a lady of unwavering faith, she loved the Lord and His Word, and her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Conner Manis; and their sons, Jerry Manis and Donald Manis; and her son-in-law, James Lewis.
She was the 8Th child and the last of 10 children of Pernie and Mary Elizabeth Smith. Her siblings preceding her in death were Luella Smith, Vena Rhea (John) Manis, Henson Smith, Blanch (Charles) Feagins, Tina (John) Chapman, Ruble Smith, Betty Mae Smith, Oliver Pernie Smith, Jr. and Woodrow Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Lewis; and her sons, Jimmy (Debbie) Manis and Keith (Virginia) Manis; daughters-in-law, Teresa Manis and Nancy Kay Manis; eleven grandchildren, Melissa (Bob) Peeples, Scott Lewis, Shawn Manis, Kylie (Matt) Price, Josh (Chelsey) Manis, Rachel (John) Anderson, Daniel (Rhonda) Manis, David (Jessica) Manis, Devin Manis, Kayla Manis and Cheyenne Manis; seventeen great grandchildren, Naome and Conner Lewis, Michael (Jessica) and Adam Gillenwater, Tryston, Evan and Ethan Manis, Colton Redden, Zachary Anderson, Wesley Moore, Marshall Price, Kason and Kingston Manis, Amber, Aiden, Davian and Keelan Manis; great-great-grandchild, Barrett Gillenwater.
She loved Living Faith Ladies Sunday School Class at East Rogersville Baptist Church, where she was a member. A special thanks to Bass Chapel Baptist Church, her home church for a number of years, who came to visit her on occasions and one Wednesday each month for prayer meeting and occasional communion. A thank you to the staff at Signature Healthcare Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice for their good care and support.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 8th at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 pm with Rev. David Rosetti, pastor at Bass Chapel Church and Rev.
