Obituary for Clare Jupiter Clare Jupiter passed away on May 18, 2018. Born Oct 25, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Clarence Joseph Jupiter and Ramona Felton Jupiter. Clare was raised in New Orleans and graduated from St. Joseph Academy High School.

She received degrees from Yale University and Duke University Law School. Prior to practicing law, Clare worked as a writer for the States-Item newspaper in New Orleans and Southern Exposure magazine in North Carolina. Clare served as general counsel for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, Inc. and Orleans Parish School Board.

She was appointed to the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board and served on several boards including Covenant House New Orleans and Metropolitan Human Services. Clare was elected as a Civil District Court Judge in 2011. Clare is survived by her husband Patrick, her children Kwame and Nia Bryant of New Orleans, four grandchildren, Ayanna Perry, Imani Allison, Michele Bryant, and Arielle Perry; mother Ramona Felton Jupiter; mother-in-law Nettie Jane Bryant of North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Jerrell Bryant of Raleigh, NC; four sisters, Jane Bell (Gavin), Gayle Jupiter, Jill Jupiter-Jones (Anthony, deceased), and Ann Mitchell (Henry); seven brothers, David, Eric, Karl (Rhonda), Daniel, Omodare, Steven (Tonya), and Jerome Jupiter (Lori), one uncle, Clyde (Patricia) of Salt Lake City, UT; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Clare was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Joseph Jupiter, and father-in-law, Rev. Dr. John Henry Bryant. A wake will be held at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave.

New Orleans, LA 70125 on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue, NOLA 70117 on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.
