Clem’s Obituary Clem C. Switaj, age 102, was called home on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Church of God Home. Born November 23, 1916 in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Jacob and Veronica (Zygmunt) Switaj. Clem attended St. Stanislaus School and was a graduate of Coal Township High School, Class of 1936.

Despite contracting polio at an early age, he worked for many years as an equipment procurement specialist at various military bases, including those in Middletown, Mechanicsburg, Washington, Philadelphia, and Julianne, IL. Clem was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg and loved to travel, play cards, and enjoy a good martini in his free time. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary (Koller) Switaj, whom he married July 21, 1962.

Surviving are his siblings, Joseph Switaj and Marie Edwards, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Albin, Maxie, Helen, and Anna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, May 31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg where there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Interment will take place privately in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special word of thanks to the wonderful staff at Church of God Home for the great care given to Clem over the past few years.
