Cornelia “Toots” (Krock) Powers, 94, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Bethel Manor. Toots was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 8, 1924 to the late Lillie (Evans) and Cornelius B. Krock.

She graduated from Central High School in 1942 and worked as a Rosie the Riveter during the war. Toots helped her husband, Thomas with Tom’s IGA store and was very active with their children and their activities. Toots loved traveling and spending time with her family. Toots is survived by her daughters; Barb Jones (Ray) of Mt. Vernon, IN and Shirley Powers of Evansville, IN; her son, Eugene “Gene” Powers (Sally) of Evansville, IN; sister, Helen Hagenseiker of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Michelle Schweizer (Joe), Danielle Todd (Kevin), Keith France (Andrea), Therri Jackson, Shane Howell (Anne), Jason Howell (Beth), Jack Powers (Stephanie), Allen Powers, Terry Hamrick, Brenda Hartmann (Jeff) and Cheryl Zink-Bell; 21 great grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Toots was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Thomas B. Powers; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Powers; a granddaughter, Theresa Lynn Jackson; a brother, Julius Krock; and a son-in-law, Marion Ray Zink. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd. , Evansville, IN 47710 with Father Stephen Lintzenich officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:30 AM until time of Mass on Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
