Obituary for Dale Wallick Dale Allan Wallick, 69, of Mount Wolf died peacefully Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was born on September 7, 1948 at the Columbia Hospital, Columbia, PA. He was the son of the late Raymond Freed Wallick and the late Ethel Pauline (Mundis) Wallick.
He grew up in Hellam Township and claimed Highmount as his hometown. Dale graduated from Eastern High School in 1966, where he enjoyed playing basketball for the high school team. After graduation, he worked locally building houses and also learned the masonry trade using this talent at part time work throughout his life.
He retired from Standard Register Corporation, where he was employed as a printer on the night shift most of his working life. Dale owned a small farm in the Starview area, which was his passion. There he grew hay, straw, wheat, barley, and corn.
He especially enjoyed selling his harvests at various Lancaster County auctions, where he had loyal customers, including the Amish community. Dale enjoyed attending public sales, especially farm sales. He loved catching up on the news and gossip with many of his loyal friends who visited him often, even when he was not able to travel to see them.
Over the years, he assisted many local farmers and friends with butchering their hogs and steers. He was a lifetime member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church in Highmount. There he served in various positions over the years.
This included serving as a trustee, working on the annual Highmount picnic committee, and assisting with maintenance at the church and picnic grounds. He also served on the Highmount Cemetery Association for many years as treasurer. He is survived by his sister, Elaine M. (Wallick) Doll and her husband, Donald of York; a niece Stacey L. Doll and her husband, Will Ternay III, of Lexington, MA; two nephews, Jason A. (Jake) Doll and his wife, Holly of Hanover and Dr. Joshua A. Doll and his wife Pamela, of York; three great nephews, Jakob Wallick Doll, US Air Force, John C. Doll, and Joseph A. Doll, of York, and a cousin Melvin E. Mundis of Hellam Twp.
He was predeceased by his loving pet cat, Pokie. A funeral service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairmount United Methodist Church, 5835 Furnace Road, York with Pastor Eddie Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in Highmount Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairmount U.M.
