Born in Nerohorion Trixonidos, Greece on March 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Fotios and Theodora (Tsintza) Lamnatos. Eleftherios was the loving husband of Sotiria (Zahos) Lamnatos; they were married October 12, 1969.

Eleftherios proudly served in the Greek Navy for 2 years. In 1969, he immigrated to the United States and took a job on the assembly line at the former AMF Plant in York. In 1979, he started his restaurant journey at the Famous Restaurant on West Market Street in York, working for his brother-in-law.

In 1990, he became the owner of the restaurant and upon “retirement” passed it on to his son, Fotios. He could still be seen every morning at the Famous, helping his sons, talking and laughing with the patrons. Eleftherios was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of York.

His welcoming smile and outgoing personality will be missed by our loving church community. He loved to spend time tending to his vegetable garden. He immensely enjoyed time with family and friends, and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Eleftherios is survived by his children, Theodora “Lola” Lamnatos, Fotios “Frank” Lamnatos and wife, Amalia, and John Lamnatos and his beloved grandchildren, Constatina, Sotirea and Eleftherios Koukounas and Eleftheria Lamnatos, all of York; his sisters, Chrisanthe Hronis, Irene Bumbaugh both of Chambersburg, and Georgia Triantafyllou and husband, George of Greece; and his brothers, Hristos Lamnatos and wife, Vasiliki of Chambersburg and Dimitrios Lamnatos and wife, Vasiliki of Greece.
