Dannie L. Straw, 76, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully early Monday, October 1, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born December 25, 1941 in Marion, he was the son of John and Myrtle (Collins) Straw. His mother survives in Marion.

On September 27, 1961 in Wise, VA, he married his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Paxton) and she survives in Caledonia. He is also survived by his sons, John (Kim Tackett) Straw of Marion and Jack (Michelle Bowman) Straw of Caledonia; grandchildren, Jackie Graham, Dannie (Kristina) Straw and Caitlyn (Tristan Beeney) Patrick; great grandchildren, Paxton and Cooper Graham, Ivan Straw, Cayden Chaney and Ellie Beeney; a sister, Teena (Myron) Crowell of Marion and a brother, Harold Straw of New Bloomington. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Derrec Patrick, a sister, Sherrie Clark, a brother-in-law, John Clark and a sister-in-law, Marlene Straw.

Dannie worked as a welder with the former Marion Power Shovel for many years. He was a member of the Oliver Lodge #447 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Caledonia and the Scottish Rite, attended the Caledonia Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his boys. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years.

Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Caledonia Church of Christ. David Braxton will officiate services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday. Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Caledonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Marysville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
