Doris J. Yates, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018. She was born on August 22, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harvey and Ruby (Gossard) Long. She was a longtime member of the Northside Baptist Church.

Doris enjoyed antiquing and bowling. She was also known to sew and make quilts for her family that they will always treasure. When she was younger, Doris played for the church softball league.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Willard Yates, three sons: Steven Yates, Thomas (Donna) Yates, and Todd Yates; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Emily, Jade, Connor and Jordon; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Long.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, November 12th, from 1-3:00 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church. Services will begin following the visitation at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
